ObjectiveTo observe the clinical therapeutic effect of ChaiPin San and Western medicine (treatment group) on patients with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) of heat stagnation of the liver and stomach pattern and compare it with one control group:Pantoprazole Sodium Enteric-coated Capsules and Mosapride Citrate Tablets (control group). The evaluation of the curative effect was conducted at two groups, and the recurrent rate was observed after the suspension of treatment for4weeks.MethodsThrough the gastroscopes, Gastroesophageal reflux disease questionnaire(GerdQ) table and integration questionnaire of GERD of heat stagnation of the liver and stomach pattern as diagnostic methods, and then63patients of GERD who were selected were randomly divided into the treatment group (32cases) and the control group (3lcases). The control group was taken orally by Pantoprazole Sodium Enteric-coated Capsules and Mosapride Citrate Tablets, while the treatment group was taken orally by traditional Chinese medicine of ChaiPing San abased on Western medicines. The course of treatment was4weeks. The scores of recurrent symptoms through questionnaires to the patients were recorded before treatment and during the treatment. Patients were revisited with follow-up questionnaire after the suspension of treatment for4weeks and gather relevant data on recurrences.Results1Both treatment group and control group were proved to be significantly effective on the treatment of GERD. After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group was96.9%, while the total effective rate of control group was93.5%. The curative effect has a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P=0.001, P<0.01).2After4weeks, the total effective rate on heartburn and reflux of treatment group and control group was96.9%/93.5%respectively, there was no significant difference (P>0.05). And the total effective rate on the sleep quality of treatment group and control group was93.7%/93.5%respectively, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). It shows that the improvement in treatment group, heartburn reflux and sleep quality all have good curative effect. 3The two groups of patients before and after treatment of TCD clinical symptoms compared, the difference in the group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The results show that the curative effects of the two groups were both improved. The symptoms including belching, distending pain in hypochondrium, irritation, appetite and constipation of the two groups have significant difference expect other symptoms. The results show that the improvement of treatment group was better than control group.4The recurrence rate of control group after suspension of treatment for4weeks is18.75%, which was higher than treatment group (45.16%)(P=0.026, P<0.05).Conclusion1ChaiPin San combined with Western medicine for treatment of GERD has good clinical curative effect.2ChaiPin San combined with Western medicine can obviously alleviate the symptoms of GERD of heat stagnation of the liver and stomach pattern.3The therapeutic effect of ChaiPin San combined with Western medicine is stable and rise steadily in long time and lower recurrence rate after stopping the treatment.4It didn't show obvious adverse reactions, which is a safe and effective prescription on treating GERD with ChaiPin San combined with Western medicine.
