The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of cooperative learning on students in vocabulary teaching. Cooperative learning is a kind of successful teaching strategy and class technique that emphasizes the learner-centered class, in which teacher plays a role of organizer, monitor, participator and assessor, students are organized in groups of two or six students in order to use a variety of learning activities to fulfill a teaching task cooperatively. Each member of the group is responsible not only for learning what is taught but also for helping group mates to share the common achievement.The participants in this research project are students in second-year classes of Dalian Business Institute majoring in International Trade and Business Management. From September 2009, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis were conducted in English Class by means of questionnaires interview an tests. With the help of the statistical software SPSS 13.0 for windows.At the beginning of the study, the author offered the pre-test to both classes to see their achievements. After one semester, the author tested them on their learning effect In the research, the author employed tests and questionnaire to collect data. The data indicate that:l.The application of cooperative learning can change the traditional ways of English vocabulary teaching, which pays too much attention to the explanation of vocabulary.2.The method of cooperative learning can stimulate the students'learning initivate and interests.3.The method also stimulates students' learning interest, creates more opportunities of practice, involvement, cooperation and communication for students, develops their positive affect, facilitates their active thinking and practice, and improves their autonomous learning abilities.The paper is divided into five parts:The first part begins with the latest findings of cooperative learning approach at home and abroad. Then, followed by the purpose and significance of the study.Part two introduce the definition of the cooperative learning then the basic elements of cooperative learning. In the third part the research questions are advanced, then the procedures of the experiment.The fourth part concerns itself with the analysis and discussion about the results of the experiment.The paper ends with the fifth part, which contains the conclusions and limitations.From the data both qualitative and quantitative, we can see that:cooperative learning as a new teaching theory and model, is widely applied by many countries in the world, is quite acceptable and feasible in English vocabulary teaching among vocational school students...
