Emotional display rule is an internal regulatory mechanism due to the inconsistent of the internal emotional experience and eternal emotional performance. Emotional display rule strategies are used in the emotional display, including calming strategies, concealing strategies, weakening strategies and exaggerating strategies. Emotional display rule motivation studies the development of emotional regulation's target oriented, which includes self protect motivation and pro-social motivation.This study uses story interview. By creating 6 special stories of positive and negative conditions, the experimenter chose 144 pupils from Grade 3 to Grade 6 in a School of Dalian in random. This experiment is a 4 factors design, with the age, sex as its between subjects variables, and relationship types and situations as its within subjects variables, and the emotional display cognition, strategies and motivations as its dependent variables. This paper studies the pupils'emotional display cognition, strategies and motivations by using analysis of variance and chi-square test.The conclusions are as follows:(1) The pupils'emotional display cognition doesn't have significant differences in the aspect of the grade, as well as the age. The differences of the pupils'emotional display cognition in the two situations are significant. The emotional display cognition in the positive situation is better than the negative situation.(2) The frequencies of the using of calming strategies are the first, the weakening strategies are the second, the exaggerating strategies are the third and the last is the concealing strategies.(3) In the positive and negative situations, the using of exaggerating strategies, calming strategies and concealing strategies is consistent. The using of weakening strategies in the negative situation is more than the positive situation. In different grades, the using of the four emotional display rule strategies is consistent. The using of exaggerating strategies, weakening strategies and concealing strategies is consistent between the boys and girls. The girls'using of calming strategies is more than the boys'.(4) The differences of the pupils'emotional display rule motivations in the different situations are significant. In the situations of the teachers, the pupils use emotional display rule strategies due to the self protect motivation. In the situations of the friends, the pupils use emotional display rule strategies due to the pro-social motivation.
