The Concept Of "the Great Wall" And "Great Wall" Record Comparative Study

The paper selects ODYSSEY OF THE GREAT WAII and THE GREAT WAII which have the same theme of the great wall as the study object. They were shot respectively by CCTV in 1989 and 2001.Through the comparison research in their creative ideas, the author intends to find times have great impacts on the creation of documentary and analyze its enlightenment to the development to the documentary.The documentary is closely linked to social reality, so there is no unified theory system and single creation form. Documentary require breakthroughs and innovation according to the needs of the times. ODYSSEY OF THE GREAT WAII was the innovative model in the 80's to 90's of 20 century when documentary was widely respected and recognized. THE GREAT WAII is the model in the 21st century when media are facing the reform and the market factor had become a very important factor in the creation of documentary film. Through comparing the two documentary films' theory and practices, the author proposes to give a certain inspiration to documentary film's development.This thesis comprises seven parts. The introduction briefly tells the reason why the topic is chosen; the preface briefly introduces the definition of documentary which have been done in history, and on the basis of the extracts, attempts to refine out the arthor's understanding of documentary and put forward to the question of cultural attribute and commercial attribute of documentary; The third part introduces the study objects, including the photographer, the shooting process, the recording content and so on; The fourth part and the fifth part analyzes the differences and the same between the two documentary films; The sixth part draws the conclusion that times has given the documentary films the cultural and economical nature, and both should be bisexual; The summary and thinking or rethinking of the above description and analyses are made in the last part of the thesis.
