Chu Dynasty paid more attention to the planting of sumac in Eastern Zhou Period. The excellent protection methods of Chu tombs made the furniture sound and preserved till now, which also provided precious information to research. Chu furniture represented the workmanship and manufacturing level of furniture in ancient China. The characteristics of Chu furniture, of which were rich species, colorful, romantic and miraculous, good workmanship.Chu furniture was the main origin to form latter lacquer wood furniture and they played a profound role in the furniture manufacturing style afterwards. Hence, researches on Chu furniture could help making the production technical level and culture life of that period known to us.Unearthed Chu furniture, including tables, boards and screens, were typical and affected latter furniture greatly. This essay would in the view of archeology, give a systematical and comprehensive typology analysis based on published fieldwork archeology reports or briefings as well as books, photographs on Chu furniture. It would also estimate the occurrence time and popular periods of these furniture according to tomb structures and characteristics of pottery, copper coins and mirrors coexisting at that time.Based on typology research. Conclusions would be initially made based on Wu culture ornaments, mystical layout and funeral objects styles as well as their relations with the owners, which was there were obvious Chu-Wu culture elements in Chu furniture. What's more, the impact of Chu furniture on those in Qin and Han Dynasties would be further discussed. Furniture of Han Dynasty inherited Eastern Zhou Period styles and developed into new species based on that.At last, the conclusion was that Chu furniture began to take shape in Eastern Zhou Period and middle Warring States Period was its golden age. Chu furniture was appealing in design, color and decoration. Their unique combination styles, rich species and structures had directly affected latter furniture system.
