Li Ji And Establishment Of Modern Chinese Archaeology

This paper describes the background of modern Chinese Archaeology and early Chinese archaeological activities in the institutions and scholars. We can 1investigate the birth of the inherent power and external conditions by analyzing the historical background, academic activities. Modern archeology has experienced the period which is about cultural conflict and changes. In the meantime, its social background and academic background are very complex. The spread of Geology and the introduction of Western Historical Thought inspired the Chinese people in the concept of field work, and it also brings the Western archaeological knowledge and theory. However, to a certain extent, it affected the academic orientation of modern Chinese archeology. Especially the reform movement of the history has subverted the traditional authority of the letter, making the reconstruction of ancient history imminent. It was the needs of the times for the birth of modern Chinese archaeologists that cleared the ideological obstacles.
