The Study About The Cultural Thought Of Liang Qichao

The development of Liang Qichao's cultural thought experienced four significant periods---around the Reform Movement of 1898, exile in Japan, early days in the Republic of China (ROC), return from Europe. It is Chinese nation's identity and basic support to exist and develop. The confidence to Chinese cultural spirit reached the summit after the return from Europe. Liang Qichao highlighted the universal values of Chinese spirit in "Chinese spirit---Western material" structure, and objected scientism to infringe Chinese spirit in "science---scientism" structure. Liang Qichao combined Chinese spirit and Western modern values by the conciliationism to form a new special culture. Liang Qichao's efforts have lots of values and meaning to our culture thought research and culture construction.The aims of this paper:Ⅰ. To clear Liang Qichao's cultural thought and find the unity. That is, the cognition and the faith to Confucian moral's sense.Ⅱ. To explain Liang Qichao's Confucian values, and to summary the rules to divide Confucian values and the strategy to defend Confucian values.Ⅲ. To explain Liang Qichao's virtue outlook and the education thought to realize it.Ⅳ. To find several important culture concepts that are ignored usually in Liang Qichao's texts, for example, "Country character", "educated citizens", "personality", and to interpret them by the methods of sociology and thought history.
