Zhuangzi is a great work in works of ancient philosophers other than those of Confucius. The 33 pieces of this book were written in different ages. The early ones were written by Zhuangzi himself. However, some latest pieces were completed in the early time in Han dynasty. It reflects the language features from the middle time in Zhanguo to the early time in Han dynasty. So it is an important literature to study language in this period. This thesis belongs to the special book grammar research. The special book grammar is the foundation of Chinese grammar history research. Choosing and studying the right book which is significant and able to reflect the language characteristics at that time is major and foundation work of Chinese grammar history research. From this thesis, we hope to enrich the preposition research of ancient Chinese, describe the preposition system characteristic of this time and summarize the development of Chinese preposition.The thesis is divided into five parts which are the introduction, the conclusion, and the three chapters. In the introduction, we will firstly clear about the standard of this thesis's preposition's determination. According to the standard, we clear about 18 prepositions and they are Yu(于),Yu(於),Yi(以),Hu(乎),Yu(与),Wei(为),Zi(自),Cong(从),You(由),Zhu(诸),Ji(及),Zai(在),Zhi(至),Dang(当),Fang(方),Yin(因),Yong(用),Chu(除),Xiang(向),Yuan(缘)In the first chapter, we divide the prepositions into six big kinds according to the semantic characteristic of preposition. And each big kind is changed into certain minor sorts again. We will induce the prepositions together which have the same significance, and then describe the prepositions of Zhuangzi and summarize its characteristic carefully. In the second chapter, we will discuss the grammatical function and the characteristic of the preposition in Zhuangzi. The third chapter is the case study of preposition in Zhuangzi. Furthermore, we also use the diagram method to display the academic achievements directly.
