The Investigation Of The Evolution Of Prototype Theory In Modern Chinese Literary Theory

Prototype theory is one of the key words for the Chinese literary activities in 20th century, the process of its development and evolution can reflect the tortuous course that Chinese literature experienced in 20th century. In the review on the history of this theory's development, we can differentiate out two different acceptable paths: The first is emphasizing the typical aesthetic value, which means taking it as a charming character or universal character of human nature showing the main feature points; the other is emphasizing the typical sociology value, which means seeing it as the characters having the class nature and fable properties, and reflecting the historical development trend. The author defined them as character typical and social typical respectively. The formation of two paths is gradually completed during the development of modern literature, and it is continue with the development of contemporary literature.This paper mainly on the evolution condition of typical theory in modern literary Among them, the formation of character typical theory arose in 1920th, the supporters are almost writers such as Lu Xun, Lao She and Zhang Tianyi, etc, and they paid attention to typical aesthetic qualities. Social typical theory began appearing in the 1930th, the formation of its supporters is more complex, Zhou yang, Hu feng, Feng xuefeng are all representatives and they put more emphasis on the intension of class nature and the essence. From the view of modern literature's development trend we can find no controversy between the two paths. With the completion of China's social revolution, social typical theory eventually established its central theoretical position with being the only expression of typical theory in college literature theory textbooks and it exerts a profound and lasting influence on Chinese contemporary literary. However, character typical theory still exists, in the form of "marks", in where social typical theory is full of tension contradictions. And this is also reserving space for the discussion of typical theory in the new era. Therefore, this paper attempts to review this evolution,and provide a new perspective for the present study.
