The folk music symbiosis of the same source nationality are very common in our country's border areas. Through the study of the folk single-stringed musical instrument which has distinctive features in the area of Jin Nationality along the border of China and Vietnam, the article takes the theories and ways of national musicology as the basis of study, uses the research fruits on the subjects relative to it for reference, discusses the general features and situation of the origin and its development in the history between the single-stringed music and cultural ecology in the area of Jin nationality along the border of China and Vietnam. It puts the stress on the comparison and study of individual characters in the course of the development of the instrument's shape and structure, its playing skill and music.The music of single-stringed musical instrument exists in the area with its unique way. It is the reappearance of the local people's life. The instrument's form, development and changes are not only the result of the influence of national environment, but also the affecting result of historical tradition, and the inevitalbe outcome of history between the people's cultural communication in the area as well. The article takes the music instrument as the longitude, and the cultural region of symbiotic nation as the latitude. It discusses about the developing situation of the instrument of Jin Nationality. It not only expounds the rich intension and logic of the development of the instrument in the cultural background of different countries, but also sums up the general characters of the musical culture and the individual musical intension.The article has four parts. The first part is about the general characters of the cultural life and relation to their environment of the instrument's music which exists in the area between China and Vietnam.The second part is about the historical origin and development of the instrument which is used both in China and Vietnam. It mainly discusses and analyses the question about the origin of the musical instrument. The writer made an on-the-spot investigation, consulted historical data and presents her own ideas about the origin of the instrument. It also combs and duscusses the historical development of the modern single-stringed musical instrument in a clear way. At the same time, it makes preliminary analysis and comparison about the present situation of the instrument which is used in the two countries. The third part is about the comparison and study about the shape and structure, playing skill and music form of the instrument which is used in China and Vietnam. It proves their general characters and individual features. It makes a systematic exposition of their own characters for their musical culture of the instrument in the two countries.The fourth part is mainly explains the general characters and individual features of the instrument's musical culture of the two countries from the angle of view of common living and cultural regions and national aesthetic psychology . It makes comments upon the gain and loss of the single-stringed musical instrument at the present age, and clarifies the opinions that the music of the instrument should develop at modern times, and at the same time, it should keep its tradition.
