Since the day memetics was publicized, it has been applied to many fields. It can also explain some phenomena of culture loaded information in translation. When Distin restudies the transmission of memes, she switched people's attention from the meme itself to the host who transmits the meme. The dominating place of human was then established. Translation is the activity between cultures and is inevitably affected by factors of both subjective and objective ones which are the principal concerns of this thesis. This thesis studied the influences exerted by these two factors on the selection of translation strategies in the course of translating culture loaded information from a memetic perspective, which is now a relative new topic. The thesis first analyzed the subjective factors and objective factors that affect the transmitting of memes, and then applied the findings to translation in order to analyze the factors that affect the selection of translation strategies. The subjective factors in translation are about the translators and the readers, while the objective factors are about the text itself, the social context and a nation's translation policy. In this thesis, the author analyzed the influences of translators'translation purpose, responsibility, and sense of times on the translators'part; and then the thesis analyzed influences of readers from the angle of readers'culture requirement, aesthetic requirement, and foreign culture receiving competence. About the text itself, the author analyzed its influences on translation from its genre and function, and raises a new opinion on how to translate core culture. Then translation was talked from synchronic and diachronic perspectives, which are the two fundamental terms of memetics. And in the light of two types memes transmitted, translatability and untranslatability were analyzed, which presents a new perspective in dealing with translating difficulties. Finally, the author concluded that the translation strategies are affected by both subjective and objective factors, and synchronic and diachronic perspectives should be employed. To make translations successful, we should understand the rules of memes transmission. Only by this way, can we contribute to the mutual understanding between peoples and cultures.
