David Lynch is an important representative of avant-garde film history. From the late seventies of last century to the beginning of this century, David Lynch has committed himself to innovation of the movie grammar, exploring the boundaries of ideographic form of movie, and therefore nominated for best director of Academy Award for three times. As a result of the impact of television and new media, the development of movie noumenon appears to be conservative and quiet nowadays compared with the last century 60's "big bang" of movie. In this context, David Lynch insisted on the movie noumenon innovation, which is significant. David Lynch created a unique style of ideographic form, has a apparent personal style, which greatly promoted the development of the movie noumenon. Consequently, it is significant to study ideographic form of movie of David Lynch for the modern film-making.Ideographic form of movie contains two levels. One is Mise-en-scene from the point of view of part. The other is the narrative on the whole. The aura made by Mise-en-scene in David Lynch's movies is uncanny which is used to the study of the history of literature. The narrative of David Lynch's movies are deeply rooted in movie tradition, such as Hollywood fantasy movies, film noir, modern movies of Europe, which are so greatly influenced David Lynch's narrative form, and inspired him. Ideographic form of movie of David Lynch presents auteur consciousness of him, showing that David Lynch's profound observation of life from unique perspectives as an artist and the research value on his ideographic form of movie.
