Academic procrastination is a kind of behavior that generated in academic situations, which denote that students voluntarily postpone task planning related to learning, and usually have uncomfortable feelings. Some researchers figure procrastination as a self-handicapping strategy, but other researchers consider that had highly controversial. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between academic procrastination and self-handicapping.Some researchers also found that self-efficacy has significant negative impact on Self-handicapping, inferring that lack of confidence in the learning ability of students more inclined to use the self-handicapping strategy. But did not divide Procrastination into different type that might confuse the result soft he study. in first study, the researcher distinguished the type of arousal procrastination from avoidant procrastination on the basis of motive,and using investigate method to explore the relationship of arousal Procrastination , avoidant procrastination and self-handicapping ,self-efficacy. The first study results were obtained:(1) Male students had more Academic procrastination than female students.(2) There is significant positive correlation between self-handicapping and academic procrastination,self-handicapping can predict academic procrastination significantly.(3) self-efficacy plays a partial mediator factor role in the relationship between self-handicapping and academic procrastination, self-handicapping can not only affect academic procrastination directly, but also affect academic procrastination through self-efficacy.On the basis of the first study, the second study using an experiment design of 2*3 two factors,using field observation method and investigate method, and considering the type of task investigate the correlation between academic procrastination and self-handicapping. As one of the influence factors, situation factor influences individual's self-handicapping deeply. The type of a task as one side of situation factor must influences the appearance of self-handicapping. According to the understanding of impending task. which is labeled whether important to one's personal worth. In the second study the researcher considering two kinds of task (high vs. low diagnostic task) influence three types of academic procrastination's(arousal procrastinationors, avoidant procrastinationors, nonprocastinationors) behavioral expression .the second study results were obtained:(1)In the high diagnostic task, two types of procrastination had more behavior procrastination than nonprocrastination . Namely,two types of procrastination more inclined to use the self-handicapping strategy than nonprocrastination .(2)In the low diagnostic task, nonprocrastination had more behavior procrastination than two types of procrastination. Namely, nonprocrastination more inclined to use the self-handicapping strategy than two types of procrastination...
