This paper is devoted to the teaching study of freehand flower-bird painting created by Professor Gao Hui-min of Fine Arts Institute of Harbin Normal University. The main contents are Teaching features, teaching theory, teaching practice, teaching achievement, educational impact of this form of teaching.It has great academic value and practical significance. Thesis are mainly composed of three parts: Teaching features, teaching theory and teaching practice. Theoretical studies include theoretical source of teaching, teaching principles and teaching methods; teaching practice include teaching objectives, teaching procedures,teaching content and teaching evaluation.Professor Gao Hui-min, the dean of Fine Arts Institute of Harbin Normal University, PhD supervisor, majoring in Freehand Flower-bird Painting.He created North of the Great Wall Freehand Flower-bird Painting School, has become a famous Chinese artist now. Mr. Gao is not only a famous artist,but also a successful teacher. In the course of thirty years of teaching,he continued to explore the teaching rules of Chinese painting with the spirit of hard work.He combined fine traditions of Chinese painting with practice of personal teaching and established a perfect Freehand Flower-bird Painting teaching system both theory and practice. We should pay attention to three features of this system: emphasis on humanistic qualities; emphasis on traditional pen and ink;emphasis on teaching standards.Professor Gao made many achievements in teaching, received many awards as outstanding teacher from the national government and local government. He has trained thousands of community painting talents but lived a simple life.Some of his students become famous painter after their teacher;others become"The Backbone Teacher"in many schools. Passing the torch, the teaching system created by Mr. Gao has growing up a dynamic development and continuous improvement system. Study of this system is a deep exploration for the laws of Chinese Painting and the Teaching.This study has significant and far-reaching significance in theory and reality because it can supplement Chinese Painting education system, establish the spirit of the times and revitalize traditional Chinese culture.The main research methods used in this paper include investigation, literature study, cross-study method and so on. Creative results can be expected: reform Freehand Flower-bird Painting teaching and implement new teaching methods; improve subjects of Freehand Flower-bird Painting and related art theory; establish valuable art academic evaluation system.
