In the background of globalization,Film and Television has been reached alarming proportions in the international transmission with the development of the times and communication technology continues to progress. The spread of American TV plays in China has caused a great tide among a great part of the audience and it is become a kind of phenomenon which is worthy to be regarded. TV plays and films work as the most popular form of entertainment spread in China not only bring the pleasure and enjoyment of the spirit of the audience, but also promote the international culture exchange.The development of the spread of American TV series in China can be divided into three stages: After the Sino-US relations in the 20th century, early 80s, the U.S. drama began to enter China's film and television industry. The transmissions of U.S. drama in this period are mainly based on the national introduction in television. In the 1990s, along with the popularity of DVD devices, American TV series have spreaded in the open coastal cities. American TV series began to attract some audience in this period and it is setting off a burst of enthusiasm. Since 21th century, the development of the Internet and the spread of popular American TV series have brought new opportunities and directly promoted the huge development of the American TV series. American TV series have come into more audience view according to the global network and the interactive new media.The spread of American TV series in China has become a cultural phenomenon. American TV series are the commercial product of consumer society. As a mass cultural products, the commercialization make it could not escape the feature of characterization. One of the most important features of American TV series is the entertainment. The reason that American TV series have been able to attract a large number of Chinese visitors is that it is driven by commercial interests and to entertain the public as the goal of the production concept. Meanwhile, the American TV series itself is the carrier of Western culture and the ideology, it possesses hegemonic in the process of communication. The popularity of American TV series in China is in conformity with the Internet age and cultural background of globalization. It meets the psychological changes of the audience in the new era, the actively information seeking of the audience and the curiosity of foreign cultures. As a exotic object, watching American TV series can bring a double impact on the audience, especially the young audience and it causes a certain amount of pressure to the domestic drama which produced some impact to the national culture and weakened national culture consciousness. Therefore, we should be objective in the background of globalization, look at the popular American TV series, and inspiration form it.
