Probe On Zhang Shen-fu's Democratic Political Thought And Activities In The Anti-Japan War

Since the modern times, the demand of democratic politics has been the inevitable choice for China. In the democratic revolution, the existence and development of democratic parties not only expanded the democratic strength, but also impelled the development of the revolutionary situation. Currently, in the building of socialist democratic politics with Chinese characteristics, to look back the democratic ideas of democratic parties, still has an important historical inspiration. As a"well-known patriotic democratic personages, the old friend of our party", Zhang Shen-fu's political thought is representative, and is an indispensable part in the study of China's middle-of-the-road's political thought.The period of the Anti-Japan war is the peak period of Zhang Shen-fu's political career. In this paper, there are four parts to explain and analyze Zhang Shen-fu's political thought and activities in the Anti-Japan War. The first chapter mainly sorts out the train of Zhang Shen-fu's political thought before the Anti-Japan war. Zhang Shen-fu's political thought before the Anti-Japan war has gone through three major stages: the embryonic stage; initial formation stage; development stage. The second chapter is mainly based on a series of Zhang Shen-fu's articles in the Anti-Japan War, and explains his political thought overall. It includes: the thought of joint Anti-Japanese; the thought of popular sovereignty; the thought of democratic constitution. The third chapter, form the practical level, concerns a series of democratic activities of Zhang Shen-fu during the war. He held highly of the banner of unity and resistance, to maintain the KMT-CPC cooperation; tried his best to offer constructive advice on culture and education during the war and campaigned; strived to political democracy, and initiated and organize the democratic constitutional movement. This is the part of innovation of this paper. The forth chapter mainly analyze the time significance and limitation of Zhang Shen-fu's democratic political thought in the Anti-Japan war. The article bases on the historical background of the development of modern democratic politics in China, and holds that Zhang Shen-fu's ideas about democratic politics have its time significance and enlightenment, but there are also historical limitations.This paper attempts to inspect Zhang Shen-fu's political thought and activities in the Anti-Japan War, hoping that we can have an objective evaluation of Zhang's political career.
