Purpose:In order to get to know the status of pupils' self-consciousness and characteristics, we take the senior students of a primary school as our research object to discuss the relationship between pupils'self-awareness and academic performance.Methods:We choose all the students of grade 5 and grade 6 in TaiShan primary school as our research object, and there are 271 students altogether. We research pupils'self-awareness condition with Piers-Harris self- awareness scale, and obtain the data of pupils' academic performance with the mid-term exam achievement.Results:(1) Pupils self-awareness scale scores shows negatively skewness distribution overall. (2) There are significant gender differences among pupils'self-awareness scale scores and two subscales,and girls' scores are higher than boys'. (3) There is a significant grade difference between grade five and grade six students only in body appearance subscale,and grade five students'scores are higher than grade six students'. (4)There is no significant difference in self-consciousness scale scores or each subscale for the singleton female and the only-child children. (5) There is a significant positive correlation between pupils'self-awareness total score or behavior, gregarious, happiness and satisfy subscales and academic performance total score. (6) Those three subscales behavior, happiness and contentment, intelligence and school) play an important role on pupils'academic achievement, and the influence increasingly decreases.Conclusion:(1) Pupils self-awareness scale scores shows negatively skewness distribution overall. There is a significant gender difference between boys and girls, and there is a significant grade difference between grade five and grade six students only in body appearance subscale. (2) There is a positive correlation among the self-awareness scale total points, three subscales and academic performance total score and scores of Chinese, Math, and English. (3) Behavior, happiness and contentment, intelligence and school subscales will bring in an important effect on academic performance.
