In the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the preposition system of Chinese language had great changes. The more complicated system of prepositions at former period began to appear a tendency for simpler and more normative. Some prepositions whose meaning and usage were repeated had died out. Some prepositions those were used regularily were retained. Some new prepositions had emerged. The usage of preposition had great changes at the same time. After getting clear with the preposition evolution at this stage,we obtained the vital clue for tracing back to the antiquity Chinese preposition and deducing the neoteric Chinese preposition.Prepositions are generally divided into five categories:indicate times, indicate directions or places, indicate objects, indicate tools or grounds and indicate reasons or purposes, among which preposition of object is the most difficult to grasp and on which systematic research is the weakest. This paper aims to make a systematic comparison of object preposition in the six Southern-Northern Dynasties documents which are quite colloquial. In this paper, comparison is the fundamental train of thought and the major research method, comparing the secular literature with Buddhist Scripture as well as comparing documents in Southern dynasty with those in Northern Dynasty, including making comparison between synonyms and making a dichronic comparison. The thesis is divided into six chapters besides the preface and conclusion. The preface expounds the present research situation of preposition in six documents(Shi Shuo Xin Yu,Luo Yang Qie Lan Ji,Guo Qu Xian Zai Yin Guo Jing,Bai Yu Jing,Xian Yu Jing,Za Bao Zang Jing), the current status of the object preposition in middle ancient Chinese, research method of this paper, research content as well as the identification standard and classification of the object preposition. The first four chapters are mainly comparison research of the object preposition in six documents. In this department, the object preposition is divided into four broad categories:the Agent, the Patiend, the Dative, and the comparison. The preposition of Dative is subdivided into nine minor categories like the Recipient,The Direction,The Designer and so on.At the same time each category is divided into two parts in static description and comparative study to discuss, comparative study carries on comparison of Southern dynasty documents and Northern dynasty documents,of the secular literature and Buddhist Scripture, which mainly includes the lexical item, the frequency,The syllable,The new-old degree,The phrase order and the object followed situation. The overall situation is that the colloquial degree of the object prepositions in Buddhist Scripture and the Northern Dynasty documents is higher than that of the secular literature and the Southern Dynasty documents, but when we comes to the detailed categories,it also differs from this. The fifth chapter is about the preposition of the Agent and Patiend as well as the passive form and disposal structure of middle ancient Chinese,This chapter mainly studies the related sentence patterns in the six documents from the angle of object preposition. The sixth chapter makes a monographic study of the object prepositions in the Middle ancient Chinese, including comparasive study on Pointing Preposition in six documents, case study on the emerging object prepositions, rough analysis of the object prepositions adopting from the ancient and the appropriation of the object preposition in Middle ancient Chinese never appeared in the six documents. The conclusion, we mainly summarized the related conclusions in the six documents, and made a general outlook on object prepositions study in Middle ancient Chinese.
