The Book of Songs, as an important literary work of pre-qin dynasty, it contains a large number of geographical terms. With three thousand years time passed, a considerable number of placenames became confusing, for example one place has several different names, or one identical name for different places. All these were led by influencing factors such as copy errors, migration, enviromental changes, dialects obstacles and so on. And this will lead to great obstacles for us to comprehend classic literatures, and even to misunderstanding of real intent of the literatures. This paper is mainly based on the Poetry Geography, which was written in Song dynasty by Wang Yinglin, and seclecting some complicated place terms as objects for textual criticisms and expanations, such as Niao Shushan, He Zhizhou, Dayuan, Dabang, Wanqiu, Dunqiu, Dongshan, and Beiguo. With the help of previous references from other ancestors and the guidance of geography, philology and literature history theory, this paper makes tridimensional analysis and study on the controversial geographical terms above, and hopes it wil lmake active significances to correct comprehension of the texts in Book of Songs. |
