Research On Tonsure Command And The Mentality Of Each Class In Early Qing Dynasty

After Manchu entering into Central Plains, one of important policies was tonsure command. On the surface, shave hair instead of just from Han hairstyle to Manchu hairstyle, actually it contained serious collision about politics and culture. Manchu wanted to exercise authority through its own hairstyle, and fritter away the superiority complex of Han nationality. Under the Manchu's power, some Han people surrendered, some rather die than surrender, some alive battled to conserve their hairstyle. This conservation notion is the result of Chinese thousands of years hairstyle culture tradition, which is the needs of protecting body and respect foe filial piety, loyalty to the nation and safeguard of national dignity. Because of this notion, in the implementation process of tonsure command, different people and different regional had different psychological characteristics. The paper desires to research on people's mentality and search the collision between Manchu culture and Han culture in the implementation process of tonsure command, and realize the political consequences of the collision, in order to clearly understand the development track in front and behind Manchu entering.
