Chinese And Japanese Kinship Terms Comparative Study

China and Japan as Asian countries, have a long cultural exchange history and relatives appellation system has many similarities. But after Meiji restoration, Japan began to absorb western culture,so its relatives appellation system also has a lot with the western countries. It's meaningful to compare the kinship terms of the two countries.American linguist Edward spair said:" There are other things, language behind language,and language cannot exist without culture and existence". Because social culture between the two countries is different, the composition and use of the kinship terms is different. In this paper,the writer first makes a detailed comparison between the kinship terms and their uses, in Chinese and Japanese, and discuss the expanded usage of the two countries. Furthermore, the writer also discusses the cultural differences reflected by the kinship.
