The Study On Kinship Terms Of Qingyang Dialect

Kinship is a kind of interpersonal relationship that generally exists in humansociety, and each language in the world has the kinship terms marking thisrelationship correspondingly.Kinship terms are forms of address that the talker has akinship with the person they communicated,they are calls based on family and kinshipbetween relatives,reflect the relations of marriage and family between people. Thekinship terms can not only reflect a person’s status and role in the network of thekinship, but also indicate relations between young and old,interpersonalintimacy,hierarchy,it is closely related to the whole social psychology, history culture,traditions and customs. Every nation in the world possesses its own kinship termswhich have a relatively rigorous system, due to historical and cultural reasons, kinshipof each region is not completely the same, thus, the kinship terms indicating theserelationships are not identical. Therefore, the kinship terms are not only a goodindication of the objectivity, subjectivity, social and developmental characteristics ofthe language vocabulary system, but a window through which we observe theregional, social and history culture, that is, it is also very valuable to study the termsfrom the perspective of cultural linguistics. So, the study of kinship terms gets doublemeaning of linguistics and culture.This paper investigates and studys the kinship terms in Qingyang dialect bymeans of description, analysis and comparison. The paper is divided into thefollowing sections: firstly, the general researched situation of Qingyang dialect andthe corpus,research meaning of this study as well as the research methods areoutlined. Secondly, through investigation of the eight points of the kinship terms inQingyang dialect, a comprehensive and systematical description of the kinship termsis provided from three aspects named the clan, foreign parents and in-laws relations,and general characteristics of the kinship terms in Qingyang dialect is summarized.Thirdly, the semantic and formation features of the kinship terms in Qingyang dialectare described and analysed. Fourthly, textual research and traceability are done tosome special marker words of ancient Chinese existing in Qingyang dialect. Finally,the hidden feudal patriarchal thoughts and Confucian culture are analyzed throughcertain special linguistics phenomena of the kinship terms in Qingyang dialect.
