The Prehistoric City Was In The Middle Reaches Of The Yangtze River Study

The middle reaches of Yangtze River where has brilliant prehistoric civilization is one of the important cradle of civilization in our country. With the deepening of archaeological work, the region has been discovered 15 prehistoric city sites, dating from Daxi Culture to Shijiahe Culture. These prehistoric city sites which character with different external shapes and internal organizational models are the important key to study the prehistoric settlement patterns and the origin of civilization in the middle reaches of Yangtze River.Firstly, this article summarized the appearance characteristics of prehistoric city sites in the middle reaches of Yangtze River. Then, we discussed the internal organizational model of these city sites and classify them as three types:single settlement, double settlements and various settlements. Finally, we investigated the properties of these city sites through relevant ethnographic materials and the researches of settlement cluster. All the above provide a new perspective to study prehistoric city sites in this region and whole China.The major contents of the thesis include the following five parts:PrefaceThis chapter explains the geographical environment and archaeological excavations and researches in brief. Also, this chapter descripts the ideas and methods used in this paper.Chapter One:The external shape characters of the prehistoric city sites in the middle reaches of Yangtze River.Summarized different external shape characters of these city sites in different regions, we can distinguish every prehistoric city site in the middle reaches of Yangtze River macroscopically.Chapter Two:The internal organizational model of the prehistoric city sites in the middle reaches of Yangtze River.We classified these prehistoric city sites in the middle reaches of Yangtze River according to their internal organizational models and described the grounds of single city site why it belongs to different types. In addition, this chapter has discussed the origin of various prehistoric city sites.Chapter Three:The property of prehistoric city sites in the middle reaches of Yangtze River.Through the researches of ethnology and settlement cluster, we have analyzed the different property of different city sites dynamically.ConclusionSummary of these studies.
