The paper, from the Skopos theory of German functional translation school, takes the subtitle translation of the film The Shadow of Mulberry as the sample to study the translation strategy the translator adopts, and to analyze the feasibility of this strategy in subtitle translation. The study shows that, under the guidance of the Skopos theory, the translation strategies of abridgement, colloquialing, literal translation, and domestication can make audiences of Chinese, the target language, better understand the source subtitle and emotion of the movie. And at the same time, Chinese audiences can achieve the same aesthetic feelings and experience as the Uighur audiences do to a great extent. |
