With the help of related data from the art and printing history, this paper describes the development of illustrations drawing between the 15th and 18th century and discusses the relevant social background. It also consummates relevant data on graphic communications before the birth of mechanical vision in the 19th century, and it also attempts to find out the pivotal intermediate links that connects the hand-drawing era and image era. The brief conclusion and discussion about the impact that the growth of illustrations drawings carries on to the image communication does demonstrate that this new technique has made a great influence on every aspect of social life for the European societies. And from this point of view, this paper brings forward the idea that illustrations drawing is a great skill in the image communications history, and it also not only acts as the key element that opens the new era for image communications, but also functions as the study object for contemporary iconography. The author hopes that with the study of relevant data, this paper could consummate related data for the study of illustrations drawing and return the development of the whole image communications history to a linear and coherent track. This paper summarizes the study of relevant documents in modern times, yet with the arrangement of these data, this paper realizes an independent study about illustrations technique.
