Western oil painting had been introduced to China over 100 years, which time is also the beginning of western modernist painting. Modernism has great influence on Chinese art in the twentieth century. Review of the last century, although modernism exploration had been interrupted for several reasons such as historical problems or social problems, but it always surprisingly happens again after stillness for several decades. This is because modernity is universality to liberation of mankind and liberation of art. Also, the modernistic revolution of Chinese art is inevitable.Chinese artists at the beginning of the last century has realized that the western art is meanful to Chinese art. And in addition, the traditional culture is also the basic of spirit of Chinese art. As a result, "integration of Chinese and western" had been generally accepted which, however, is just the beginning and can not explain how to realize modernism of Chinese art. And it even put us into the error of superficial fusion. In fact, art is never signify the "what" but the "how". "What" is just for summarizing and concluding the predecessors' works. But "how" is the only way to exploring the unknow. This thesis mainly deals with the rearrangement of modernism rt, and provides one possible of Chinese modernistic art.This paper contains six parts, such as background of history, contemporary society, connotation of modernism art, status of contemporary art, Chinese traditional art spirit and spiritual realization.Studying of art is an interdisciplinary research. This paper not only related with artistic fields but also related with philosophy, history, society and so on. The material including western modernism art, post modernism art, Chinese modern times art, Chinese contemporary art, Chinese traditional art and culture.
