The subject matter of the west essay's influence on modern Chinese prose has reaped a relatively rich academic achievements, but research on this subject still requires more detailed and systematic study. In the existing prose theory and literary history, the description of Montaigne and Lamb are combined together as the same style. In fact, Montaigne's essays and Lamb's are two different styles of prose essays, this paper will specifically look into the west essay represented by Montaigne'and Lamb's essays by comparatively analyzing the two typical paradigms and conduct a detailed research on their acceptance in China and its penetration into the Chinese Prose.Although the modern Chinese essay could not simply correspond to the modern essay of Montaigne and Lamb, but we could still compare and study from the themes, stylistic point of view of the theme, subject matter, tone, style and way of thinking, comparatively confirm the history and relationship with Montaigne's and Lamb's essay relatively. The first part of the paper generally sorts out the introduction and translation of Montaigne's and Lamb's works in modem China literature, clarifying the "foreign aid" section of Modern Chinese Prose. The second part is the second and third chapters, which focuses on the differences between Montaigne's and Lamb's essays and then marks off the division of Chinese essays and the two writers'essays in terms of science of theme and science of Style, comparing and analyzing their works according to the theme, subject matter, tone, style and way of thinking, confirming their history and relationship with the two writers'works. The third part of is the fourth chapter, in this section it will look for the Modern Chinese Prose "intrinsic factor", which is to clarify the ancient literary sources as a nourishment for the two typical essays. In addition to the fact that Zhou Zuoren has repeatedly stressed the relationship between modern prose and Gong'an style and Jinglin style of the late Ming Dynasty, the Montaigne-style article not only has its similar counterpart in ancient China but also a very splendid one.
