As governmental priorities worldwide continue to emphasize the inclusion of patients in healthcare consultations, nursing communication has become more important than ever before because quality of nursing services largely depends on the quality of communication in a very competitive healthcare environment. There is a pressing need for a research approach that accurately captures the contribution of both participants within professional personnel and patients' interaction. With this in mind, this paper mainly examines, via selective data extracts, the contribution that conversation analysis (CA) could make to this area of nursing research. In the United Kingdom of Great Britain over the last two decades, Conversation Analysis has never been treated properly as a method for studying professional medical personnel and patients'communication, and a case is made here for its entry into the mainstream of nursing research. The case is made particularly persuasive in the light of conversation analysts' use of naturally occurring research data, a form of data that is regrettably lacking in much of the published research on medical personnel-patients interaction. This article was clarified how Conversation Analysis can be useful in the analysis of professional personnel and patients' interaction. Introduce ways to improve nurse-patient communication using conversation analysis. Methods:Data was transcribed from the recordings and selected download from Internet. Results:This study provided theoretical backgrounds and basic assumptions of conversation analysis which was influenced by ethnomethodology, phenomenology, and sociolinguistic. In addition, the characteristics and analysis methods of conversation analysis were illustrated in detail. Conclusion:demonstrated that CA is a rich method for analyzing institutional talk and its reemergence as a mainstream method in nursing research. |
