The Preliminary Study On Sustaining Of Gentry Class During 3 To 6 Centry

Gentry's class was a particular social class with a relatively closed nature in the Wei and Jin Dynasties in China, which both different from the time precede Qin dynasty, also from the aristocratic family after Song dynasty. There are three parts in my paper that search the characters of gentry's class in Wei and Jin dynasties. The first chapter was set as a single part trying to conclude the inherited accumulation on this issue made by Chinese scholars in past century.The second part of this paper is the main brain in which my opinion "sustainable of gentry's class" would be raised. I set this point in to two parts:one is the long sustains of the gentry, the other is about how a single gentry's family could be continuity. The later is the main question I try to analysis so that could find out the reasons why it can prolong. "Social condition" and "their own characters" were the two way I used to analysis this topic. Through a long time studying, I think the social condition at that time was composed by system of the officer selecting, title of nobility, system of education. While own characters was determined by their own studying, morality, and career. From above formulas, some main elements was located which may affect the sustaining of this whole class. As the gentries would be given more special treatments on the officers selecting, title of nobility, and education which gave them a right that could enjoy a better life in upper class. That meant the tone of those gentry family was aristocrat. However, they could pass generation by generation, also had their own achieves actually. They paid much on their own morality, studying and career which needed their dedicating. That became the limitation of their development. It is regret that I still had not made a detail research on the problem that between "social condition" and "their own characters" which was the determinant reason leading the sustaining of this class, though I inclined to believe their own characters played a more impotent role.The third, fourth and fifth parts was going to put the characters of some famous family into order such as Wei's family in He Dong, Wang's family in Taiyuan, and Pei's family in He Dong, Those study would provide some information for me to made a deeper research.
