Cecilia Bartoli, a well-known Italian mezzo-soprano opera singer, is celebrated for having the versatility to play mezzo roles. Cecilia Bartoli is considered a coloratura mezzo-soprano with an unusual timbre. Her lyric voice and perfect performance have given her considerable recognition among the public. She has undeniably been one of the leading artists in the field of classical music. Cecilia Bartoli is a serious artist who has deep insight into music. Her passion for and persistent pursuit of music makes a perfect combination of her performance and music itself.The first chapter focuses on factors contributing to the formation of her unique style in terms of ethnic and cultural background with detailed introduction to her family, her education as well as the achievements she has scored since her debut in 1989. The thesis also presents a detailed analysis of Bartoli's style.First, a close analysis is made on her investigations of lieds, including Italian and French ones, in which Bartoli's unique style and skills are embodied. Second, a thorough study is also conducted on her investigations of opera. She plays both soprano and mezzo roles, and is also a soprano with a low tessitura.
