Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk is the 2006 recipient of the Nobel Literature Prize.The reason why Sweden of liberal arts awarded him the Nobel Prize in literature is that " He found the conflict between civilizations and the new symbol of its crisscross when in the pursuit of gloomy soul in his hometown." The reviews fully affirmed Pamuk's enormous contribution to the exploring of the development of cultural conflict and integration , and also affirmed the melancholy soul of Istanbul. The conflict and fusion refer to that in civilization between eastern and western of the synchronic category and also refer to that in Turkey tradition and civilizations between today and future of diachronic category .Pamuk has its own unique thinking on the relationship between them and internalizes an idea of writing. In his works he often shows the confused relationship among civilizations by using the duality, including the book black book, which is a typical example. The paper tries to analyze the duality of the image in the works to express the broken Istanbul in civilization and then make a conclusion that the gap between cultures is the main source of the "Hüzün " of the city. This article is divided into five parts:The first part, Introduction .It sorts out and comments the international research status of Pamuk. Meanwhile, making a brief introduction of the literary works of Pamuk . Besides, it summarizes the characteristics and the angle of the paper and explains the academic value and its significance.The second part, In the book black book Pamuk depicts a split and anxious image of the city Istanbul, which is expressed through the debris type segments. Because it is its broken image that reveal its sadness, and it is because of its sorrow that strengthened its broken beauty. Drawing on the related theories on daily life theoretical aspects, this chapter attempts to illustrate the postmodern works all criticize and distort the daily life while Palmer deeply praises the daily life, raising his city with praise, even though the city is dilapidated everywhere, full of sin and helplessness. " Hüzün" has become a lingering spirit of Istanbul.The third part, this chapter mainly analyses characters in the book black book It discusses the association between the double or even multiple images in the book and the city of Istanbul to clarify the subjectivity of Pamuk's literature. It is just by the mixed perspective that he expressed the true puzzle for the person, his Philosophical thinking about the subjectivity and his love for Istanbul.The fourth part, using Sufi mysticism philosophy, Freud's dual personality and Lacan's mirror theory, it describs the diversity of the dual in black book, and through the relationship between them, it reflects Pamuk thinks about the eastern and western issue as well as traditional and modern issue based on local standpoint. What's more, based on the Diachronic and Synchronic thinking, it expresses his grand view of the world with his broad mind encompassing the whole world .The fifth part,Conclusion. Make a general summary of the paper. This article just provides a little humble view for readers to understand the starting point of Pamuk, which I also slightly added some my immature views and understanding. Of course, a thousand readers, have a thousand Hamlet. Expecting Orhan Pamuk accepted by more readers.
