Orhan Pamuk won the 2006 Nobel Prize rely on his novel “My name is red”, he also became one of the three major European writer. Therefore, it is very necessary to study him and his works. The literary works of Orhan Pamuk spanned two worlds and trended to explore the conflict and integration of Eastern and Western civilizations. Although Pamuk is not the first writer who presented the cultural conflicts, but he founded the “new symbols” of the cultural conflict and fusion in the process of his creation, which made the research of the cultural conflict went into a new stage. Inspired by the “new symbols”, this paper analyzed Orhan Pamuk's “new symbols” expression by the method of close reading, which use the My name is red, White castle, Snow as example. After that, this paper unscrambled Pamuk's expression for culture in the perspective of color symbolism.This paper is mainly divided into four parts. The introduction part mainly introduces the life experience and works of Orhan Pamuk, and given a clear outline of the research object of this paper. After that, I had read a lot of literatures which related to this paper and summarized the research status of the work of Pamuk at home and abroad, and gets the research foundation and the research direction of this paper. At last, according to the content, this paper expounds the significance of the selected topic and the specific research methods, and analyzes the problems that may be encountered in the text, which lays the foundation for the research work of the text.The first chapter mainly studies the color image in the works of Pamuk. This chapter began with an analysis of the Pamuk's three famous works in the main color contains profound image, and discusses from the aspects of color image, color narrative of the presentation skills in Pamuk's works and discussed his colorful gorgeous writing style and way of expression.The second chapter mainly discussed the Color Metaphors in the works of Pamuk. Through the study of the major works in this section, it is not difficult to find that Pamuk often use the sharp cholor express the profound cultural connotation and use the color image to show his thoughts of history, society and cultural identity. Meanwhile, he is good at color personification. He often analogy the abstract eastern and western culture through the vivid color impact to show the cultural conflict and explain the cultural identity of the author.In the third chapter, through the research of the cultural conflict and the identity cognition problem in the globalization process in the works of Pamuk it leads the research and analysis about the problem which was analogied by the color blending in Pamuk's works out. After that, I deeply discussed the views of Orhan Pamuk to the cultural confilicts between the East and the West combined with the life experience of Orhan Pamuk.
