Portraits in the late Ming period in China in both quality and quantity were significantly developed, within which Zengjing made great contribution and his superb and exquisite portrait art were chased and well commended by the late posterity. Based on the analysis of Zengjing's painting details this paper displays discussion on his portrait techniques mainly from the following three aspects: the first aspect is the painting features of the face in the portrait."Bump method" was used is an important reason why Zengjing is so famous. He used the traditional ink, pen, paper and other tools to create realistic and three-dimensional artistic effect, so that this art form was inherited and developed. Even many famous painters are subject to the impact of this kind of art. So how does this technique performance the personality of the characters? What is the difference to Chinese traditional portraits and what's the origin? That is one of the major problems trying to solve in this paper.The second is the character profile. Different environments, posture, and so reflect the ethos of the characters so that Zengjing therefore was able to creat different characters. The performance of attitude in Chinese traditional portraits, is generally in accordance with the gentlemen's image with"courteous hands"and"plump feet". Regard the other painters in this area at the time Zengjing freed his characters in his works from traditional courteous gentlemen image which were much different from traditional ones.The third part is about the inspiration of the modern Chinese portrait painting influenced by Zeng Jing's portrait artistic language. The"reality"that painters want to tell is not only the reality on the surface, but also the combination of the spirit, image and life, western and eastern. The research on Zeng Jing's portrait paintings could let people know the value and meaning of his portrait art, and it could also draw sufficient attention of his portraiture and aesthetic ideas. What's more, we could take the advantage of his idea of portraiture and make that happen when we doing our own job of Chinese portraiture.
