The recent years have witnessed a big boom in the executive education of China.A growing number of management schools of higher learning in China are getting down to applying for the approval of accreditation from the international accreditation institutions with an aim to pushing forward the internationalization of the executive education. Given the fact that the international accreditation organizations adopt English as their official language, therefore, as far as Chinese management schools are concerned, the translation work is supposed to be of great importance in the process of their application. This practice report is just based on the translation of accreditation text, EQUIS Standards & Criteria:V-X entrusted by the Management and Economics School of X University. It is mainly composed of four parts. Part 1 is the task description, including a brief introduction of translation task and the source text. Part 2 is the description of the translation process. In accordance with the four procedures of translation proposed by Nord in her book Analysis in Translation, in the first step the writer analyzes the translation brief given by the client. In the second step the writer makes an analysis of the source text, including the analysis of intratextual and extratextual factors. In the third step the author makes a prediction of the problems that may occur in the process of translation and comes up with some solutions to the potential problems. The last step is the production of target text. Part 3 is the case analysis. Through some examples extracted from the translated text, the writer discusses the translation methods and techniques adopted in the translation of accreditation text both at the lexical level and sentence level. In translation of specialized terms or terminology, the writer adopts such methods as literal translation and free translation according to different types and characteristics of terms. In translation of sentences, the writer employs different translation techniques because of the existence of the fact that there are various kinds of sentences in English and each of them may have its own characteristics. Taking the translation of long sentences asan example, the writer employs the techniques of syntactic linearity and readjustment of sentence structure in order to make the translated text faithful to the source text and smooth. The last part is the summary of the translation practice, including the gains and the deficiencies. Hopefully, this practice report will provide some suggestions for the translator in translation of accreditation texts.
