Dear Nobody is one of Berlie Doherty's representative works. The writer of this thesis will analyze the novel from two angles: one is the growing problems the novel reflects; the other is to see the influential factors in adolescents'course of growing by analyzing the protagonists'experiences.The introduction of the thesis gives a brief introduction to Berlie Doherty and Dear Nobody. The literature review and related theories about adolescence psychology are included at the same time.The novel reflects the social problems of adolescents'love affair and early pregnancy. Thus in chapter one, the writer mainly discusses the growing problems the two protagonists meet. Besides the uncertain love affair and the unexpected pregnancy, there is another problem the two teenagers encounter: the tense mother-child relationship.Chapter two illustrates the influences of family factors in the two protagonists'course of growing: the maternal influence on adolescents'attitudes toward love and marriage; the paternal influence on responsibility and education; and the sibling's interrelationship. The writer of the thesis will discuss the three aspects one by one.The third chapter of the thesis analyzes the social factors in their growing, which include the help, the understanding, and the consolation between friends; and the school education's enlightenment for them.The conclusion part summarizes the growing problems and the growing factors in adolescents'growing, which are showed in Dear Nobody, and restates the viewpoint of the writer.
