Comparative Studies Of "Shi" And "Be"

The main objective of the paper is to have a thorough constructive study on''是"and "be". In order to achieve this objective, a comprehensive study of all aspects of "是" and "be" will be included. In addition to comparing "是" and "be" in terms of their copula forms, all of their semantics meanings and their etymologies will also be put under scrutiny and compared. In order to achieve a better objective view on the cultural aspects in both''是"and "be", Malay, which has a high similarity in its copula usages as Chinese's will also be included in the comparison. All these are trying to demonstrate that the translations of "be" and "being" into Chinese as"是"and"是者"are more appropriate, instead of their former translations both as''存在".
