During the 1950s, Guatemala, a nation in Central America, was experiencing a national democratic reform concentrated on agrarian reform carried out by President Jacobo Arbenz Guzman, In the progress of this agrarian reform, the government of Guatemala made a requisition of land, which seriously damaged the monopoly economic profit of United Fruit Company (UFCO). As UFCO had close connection with the Eisenhower Government, a coup d'etate named as PBSUCCESS, aiming to overthrow the Arbenz Government for the reason of eliminating the communism threat, was plotted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States. For quite a long time, the domestic academic area hadn't paid enough attention to the study on the role played by UFCO in PBSUCCESS. This thesis not only discussed how those American monopoly groups made use of power resources to affect the foreign policies of government, but also described how those Corporation elites in the federal government elevated their personal economic interests to State Interests by governmental actions. With these two new visual angles, the writer deeply analyzed the part played by UFCO during the coup d'etate of Guatemala in 1954.
