The Tibetan Buddhist merit dedication prayers from Dunhuang manuscripts reveal the contents of prayers of the Tibetan Buddhist community at the period of Tibetan Empire, and some of the prayers were never published or printed, as the result, it could be a valuable material to research on the development of Buddhism and Tibetan letters in early Tibet.The materials are collect from the original Dunhuang manuscripts, mainly based on 27 prayers of merit dedication. The paper consists of three chapters beside the preface and epilogue. Within the first chapter, it's mainly discussed about the catalogues of the merit dedication prayers, its characteristics and social background.In the second chapter, it discussed about the versions of merit dedication prayers, which includes, characteristics of Tibetan writing, use of reversed kukes(one of the four vowels), tshegs(the dot between various syllables), shad(the full stop) which reveals the evolution of the Tibetan grammar and use of words in ancient times.Within the final chapter, it mostly focused on the characteristics of ancient Tibetan grammar, with a comparison of modern Tibetan grammar.
