This paper attempts to analysis the content of the Yungang Grottoes of the Northern Wei dynasty, search the content of the people's worship to Buddhism and the relationship between their pursue and local community mental concept and the Buddhist teachings. The paper points out the reason why the Buddhism popular among the Ping Cheng's people combined with promote way of Buddhism and people attitude to the faith. It is based on the most fundamental world view of people. The people of Northern Wei turn the idea of"practice Buddhism and adhigama"to"jian xiang qi wu"and the change form the fact that the prayer and their worship lack of ties to their polytheistic beliefs reveal the people's understanding to Buddhist teachings. And, the worship to imperial power and familism deep-rooted in the background of paying respect for Buddha reveal the inertance and strong power of localism. Through the studying on different between the traditional worship and worship to statues, we can see that the Buddha, Bodhisattva are another kind of deities, enshrine and worship include offering and salute, supplication is the traditional pray, and the supporting to statue is equivalent to the actually sacrifice. These studies show us the essence of Ping Chen's worship in the Northern Wei. We can see the way that the traditional ideas and beliefs change the Buddhism, and the way to be accepted.
