Through combing the construction history of Yungang Grottoes,analyzing the archaeological excavation in front of the grottoes and above the grottoes,as well as investigating the remains of the Ming and Qing dynasties,it is found that the site selection of the Yungang Lower Castle in the Ming Dynasty had the least damage to the grottoes.Under the upper castle of Yungang,there should be the ruins of the Northern Wei ancestral temple.Yungang Castle experienced the process from post station to civilian castle to military castle,and finally developed into a village.The construction of Yungang Castel in the Ming Dynasty prompted the monastery to move from the top of the caves to the front.Based on the analysis of the organizers,objects and sources of funds of the construction of Yungang Grottoes in the Qing Dynasty,the paper puts forward the Qing Dynasty construction is the inheritance and development of the past.The construction in the Ming and Qing dynasties led to the different experiences of the eastern,middle and western grottoes.
