Taking the Chinese edition Fortress Besieged written by the Chinese scholar and writer Qian Zhongshu and its Russian edition interpreted by Russian scholar Sorokin as research materials, this thesis studies mistranslation phenomena between Chinese and Russian by the ways of comparing and analyzing. This paper concludes the reasons causing the mistranslation through the typical examples, and provides the correcting proposals and the strategies of avoiding or reducing the mistranslation.Chapter one chiefly introduces the purpose and meaning of the study. Chapter two investigates the reasons of the mistranslation from the perspectives of Hermeneutics and fusion of horizon theory and defines the mistranslation on the finding that misreading is the main reason of mistranslation. After referring many meterials, mistranslation is divided into intended mistranslation and unintendede mistranslation. Chapter three includes nearly 70 examples in the original texts and translated texts, the analysis of these wrong places and referring translation. Chapter four summarizes the strategies and inspirations of mistranslation. As long as the interpreters constantly develop and increase the cultural consciousness, voluntarily using the method of analyzing, paying attention to the differences among the languages and setting up the right view of translation, misresding and mistranslation can be largely avoided.
