The paper talks about the new words and new format of the media headings and concludes the reason of the formation, aiming at supplying theoretical basis and language materials for the study on the heading syntax. The paper analyzes the new words, the new functions and the new meanings of them. As a result, they get that it create a large number of new heading words through neologism, loan words, trigraphs; it generates the new meanings of words through widening of meaning, transferring of meaning, metaphor; the function changes through the following forms:empty words used as a practical words, nouns used as verbs, and to do form plus an object.The study on the new formats of headings inspects the sources and features of the new patterns of the headings systematically. It divides the new patterns of seven words formula and translocation meticulously. In addition, the paper concludes the function of colon used in the headings, such as "A:B". And it also analyzes the forms: "attribute+ central word", European headings and formula headings.The attitude which the study on headings should strengthen the awareness of type writing and analyzed the differences through comparing put forward by Yin Shichao (2004), supply the theoretical basis and directions for the paper.
