Rich Format File: The New Ladder For The Development Of Digital Media Art

As a common way to store, manage and transfer data, rich format file has been a familiar format in digital age, especially in times of network. Passing through the development and popularization of rich text file, rich format file is gradually well known and wildly used because of its characters that reply the needs of digital age. In the digital media art field, rich format files are used as the medium of works and project files. The development and characters of rich format file alone as its usage in digital media art are discussed in the thesis.Beyond simply store and transfer data, rich media file could play a bigger part in digital media field. In the production of digital media art, which is often trapped in the limit of productivity, many problems can be solved through rich format files or the way of rich format files. In this thesis three example problems form actual projects are discussed which are the management of footage, the information channels, the expansion of colour space. The future usage of rich media file in digital media art is also discussed.Not only in the production process can rich format file be used, but also in the field of appreciation. From the aesthetic point of view, this thesis discussed the development of aesthetic conception, behavior and production when rich format file is wildly used.At last, this thesis surveyed the status, significance and futurity of rich format file in digital media art form aesthetic point of view, and applied the"triangle of art model"of Kandinsky and Blocker. Suggestions of the education of digital media art are also discussed.
