Research On The Development And Change Of "No A No B" Format

There are a large number of "WU A BU B" formats in modern Chinese,such as "wukongburu" and "wusuobuyou". In academia, much research have been done in the usage of "WU A BU B" format in modern Chinese. However, few achievements which are related to the origin and evolvement of this format have been made from the angle of Chinese language history. Based on the Center of Chinese Linguistics of Peking University, we have done a full reserch and have gathered up a great amount of examples of the "WU A BU B" format. Many research methods have been appied in our research to study the origin, development and investigation of the format of the "WU A BU B". They are the methods of corpus study, statistical analysis of frequency, contrastive analysis. At the same time, we have studied this format from the same and different eras. We also focus our research on the idioms of the "WU A BU B" format that have been included in dictionary. A contrastive research of the "WU A BU B" format has been done among set phrases, common sayings and proverbs. All we have done are supposed to help deepen our understanding of the development and change of the "WU A BUB" format.
