The purpose of this dissertation is the Chinese-English contrast and teaching of numeral idioms in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The basis of contrast is to discover the characteristic difference and common of them. The dissertation initially contrasts the characteristics of culture, phonology and structure of Chinese-English numeral idioms. By analyzing the basic characteristics of numeral idioms, it will discover the difference and common of numeral idioms. Secondly, mentioned the contrast on the meaning of numerals, actual and virtual meaning, pragmatics and style, these are the rest contrast and analysis of numeral idioms. The last chapter is combining numeral idioms with Chinese teaching, thus put forwards with the methods of Chinese culture background introduction, analyzing Chinese words, getting main regular patterns, setting special context and contrast of Chinese and English to assist the teaching of numeral idioms.
