Along with the enhancement of Chinese strength, Chinese language status hasimproved rapidly, and more and more foreigners are learning Chinese language.Chinese language as a foreign language education is gradually into her period ofprosperity. Meaning while, the relevant theoretical research is still lack because of theshot history of Chinese language as a foreign language teaching. Idiom, as a specialmember of Chinese vocabulary category, embodies the long history and the splendidtraditional culture of the Chinese nation. That is also why so many foreign studentspersist on learning Chinese language.Idiom is the living fossil of Chinese language, the accumulation of Chinese cultureand the show of Chinese ideology. Currently more scholars are paying attention toidiom teaching on Chinese language as a foreign language education, and they createdmany relevant researches. Numeral idiom is one part of idioms, which is beginning withnumbers. According to the precious research we know that scholars still don’t payenough attention to numeral idioms, which caused the lack of relevant research. Thepurpose of this paper is to sever for Chinese language teaching, studying numeral idiomand putting forward the corresponding teaching strategies. This paper is made of threesections. The first part is the investigation of present situation of numeral idioms whichis feedback from intermediate level and senior level foreign students. The result is notoptimistic. The second section is the analysis is of the numeral idioms, including thenumeral idiom culture meaning, the structure and the rhetoric method of numeral idioms.In the last part, the author, according to the previous studies, put forward relevantstrategy to numeral idiom teaching, such as explaining digital cultural connotation in-depth, showing more examples, summing up the characters of numeral idiom, using avariety of teaching, etc.I hope this paper which contains detailed analysis on numeral idioms can helpforeign students understand idioms effectively; also can provide some suggestions andevidences for teaching.
