Research On ESP Teaching In Higher Vocational Colleges

In the past 10 years of 21st century, with the deepening of the integration of the world economy, English as the most widely used tool of communication plays basic communication function in daily life, but it also reflects information transfer function in almost all industries. In economics, technology, service and other aspects of the ESP (ESP:English for Special Purpose) has been increasing. With China's increased demand for professional talents, ESP teaching as a profession education is more and more important.But until now, ESP teaching of many domestic vocational colleges emphasize on language knowledge. Because China's colleges, especially the higher vocational colleges in ESP teaching is still stay in the low starting point, and it starts lately. It largely put common English teaching mode on the same for ESP, both on the awareness of the social need or the needs of the students and the extensive investigation and in-depth research of the level they should reach. So if a course design without purpose, it will be very blind, it also won't have a satisfactory effect to practice, let alone can we cultivate new professional talents who have the ability of "professional knowledge+English communication+innovation capability" in our country.We can be sure that in the 21st century, ESP teaching will become the main development trends.This paper adopts the methods of literature review, questionnaire, interview and classroom observation on the teaching of higher vocational colleges ESP on research, fully discussed its teaching situation, problems and countermeasures to solve these problems in higher vocational colleges, aiming to improve the teaching quality of ESP. The first chapter presents the basic concept of the ESP and classification, the development of domestic and foreign ESP in our country, it points out that discussions on the general meaning of the problems of teaching ESP; The second chapter talks about higher vocational English teaching goal, from vocational ESP teaching material status, vocational students' learning conditions and higher vocational English teachers team studied several aspects of the ESP teaching in higher vocational colleges at present situation and the existing problems; Chapter 3 is an ESP teaching situation survey of a higher vocational colleges in changchun; The fourth chapter proposed solutions to the problems in teaching of ESP strategies in vocational colleges.
