To understand a chapter we must understand its'structure first. This structure includes not only the structure between the sentences but also the paragraphs. The content of Rhetorical Structure Theory is to study the relationship among the structure. Rhetorical Structure Theory, also referred as RST theory, put forward by in 1980s, by Mann and Thompson, University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute. It is a methodology of discourse structure analyze, which includes almost discourse structure, language, the language of potential theory, and other essential parts, etc. Because of its systematic, flexibility and its operational, more and more linguistics pay attention on it recently.This article is tried to use this method to study Chinese argumentative discourse structure. The main parts are the second and third chapters. Chapter 2 is to study the Argumentative Discourse Structure for Chinese study, which mainly concern to the Chinese arguments.According to the research, we found that there is more structural relations in the Chinese arguments. By removing the support structure, analyzing each part, and summarizing the type of structure, we can get a conclusion.On the basis of chapter 2, chapter 3 analysis the Chinese arguments which written by foreign students. Comparing with the Mandarin-speaking people, try to find some potential reasons in some errors, particularly in the function of the overall structure of the synthesis. I hope that this chapter can provide a counter-example teaching method.According to the above chapters, the final chapter put forwards some suggestion on teaching-method, teachers and teaching-materials.
