The Research On HuaiNan Tzu Economy Thoughts

HuaiNan Tzu, also known as Huainan Honglie, was written into a book at the beginning of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. It was compiled by Liu An who rounded up his hangers-on to finish this book. The book covers many aspects of politics, economics, philosophy, history, astronomy, geography, medicine and others, preserving a large number of precious cultural legacies. This paper mainly explores the economic thought through the book of HuaiNan Tzu.The ideology of social division in HuaiNan Tzu, the emphasis on ecological economic thought of sustainable development, the attach importance on agricultural thought of agricultural production and grain reserve, the stress on economic thought of developing handicraft and commerce and also the tax ideology of "planning revenues first, accumulating taxes according to people" constitute a complete system about the economic thought in the book of HuaiNan Tzu. It is mainly based on the Taoism, integrated with the economic thought of the Confucianism, the Legalist thought, the Naturalism and other thoughts, giving play to the economic theory of the Taoism by the numbers in Han dynasty.The unusual life experiences of Liu An are the main subjective factors which generate the book of HuaiNan Tzu, the development of the Taoism of the pre-Qin period, the prevalence of science of early Han Taoism, the economic thoughts'appearance of Lu Ja, Jia Yi, Cao Cuo and their influence on society at that time are the theoretical basis of the economic thought of HuaiNan Tzu. What's more, the specific social backgrounds and environments of the Western Han dynasty and Liu An's economic practice in the kingdom of Huainan are the social-economic base of the economic thought of HuaiNan Tzu.The book of HuaiNan Tzu believes that the Tao is the highest category in the Taoist philosophy and on this base gives the "Quietism" positive connotation. In politic it pursues "peace the people, wealth the country", values the people's livelihood, and requires developing economic actively. The law should change with the time in order to adapt the economic development.The evaluation on the economic thought of HuaiNan Tzu is the last part in this paper, including the following three parts--the limitation of the economic thought, the impact on later economic thought and the revelation of the day.There are many novel ideas in the aspects of economic in HuaiNan Tzu which are quite different from the orthodox economic thoughts at that time and also can provide some important ideological and theoretical references for the contemporary country development in many aspects.
