As an important issue in cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, affectivepriming was studied by more and more psychologists these years. In order to find theevidence of the affective primacy hypothesis, lots of forward affective primingparadigm and backward affective priming paradigm were used in research, and theresults were same or similar, but the ERP study about affective priming was not sowidespread. According to the study of affective priming effect, especially to reveal thearousal effect of affective priming, it can explain how our brain deal with, select andcoding stimulus automatically, also it can tell us that our brain select stimulates withhigh arousing level automatically to further work. The brain's sensitive to arousing levelmay reflect the amygdale's rapid processing of emotions. So our study used behavioralexperimental and event-related potentials (ERP) to explore the following questions: ifthe coding consistency of material is necessary conditions for affective priming? Howthe priming stimulus' valences influence the affective priming? How about the arousinglevel and SOA? And how the neural mechanisms work during the process? This study has two experiments: the first is behavioral Experiment, with two kindsof materials (words or pictures) as the priming stimulus, and select three SOA levels-+100ms,+150ms and100ms, start by changing the priming stimulus valence andarousal,45subjects accepted the assessment and classification tasks. The secondexperiment was on the basis of the first experiment, choose the second SOA level-+150ms, start by changing the priming stimulus valence and arousal,19subjects accepted the assessment and classification tasks. The results were concluded as follows:1The coding consistency of material is not the necessary condition of affectivepriming effects.2Significant affective priming effects occurred at every SOA level, and theaffective priming effect was fond most significant at+150ms.3Brain can percept and process stimulus at early stage, and produce obvious ERPS-early Pl,Nl,and LPC at all priming types.4There are valence effect and arousal effect on affective priming effects.5The performance of the arousal effect was different on different valence.6It exists main effect of brain regions and interaction of brain regions andelectrode Effect on affective priming effects.
